Motorists in Destrehan are facing a series of road closures and detours as the parish undertakes construction and utility work. According to a recent announcement by the St. Charles Parish government, Jonathan Street will remain closed until further notice, with emergency traffic being redirected to Bunge's heavy hall road for accessing Noel Street via the rear of the facility.
Additionally, a stretch of Ormond Center Court is blocked from 150 Ormond Center Court to 3001 Ormond Blvd due to ongoing road construction. A detour has been established to help vehicle traffic to navigate around the construction site, as reported by the St. Charles Parish.
In a road status update, it was noted that there will be alternating lane closures on LA 3127 between the St. James Parish Line and St. Charles Parish Line, starting from November 3, and expected to last until October 30, 2026. During this period, the construction crews are set to install drainage structures and perform an asphalt mill and overlay. The work is scheduled from 6AM to 6PM on weekdays, weather permitting, with oversized loads limited to a 12-foot width on this route, as detailed by the St. Charles Parish government.
For those seeking to avoid the affected section on LA 3127, detour routes are available. Motorists traveling east on LA 3127 can take LA 3213 north to LA 641, then proceed to I-10, moving east to I-310 (Exit 220), and then move south to re-intersect with LA 3127. Those heading west on LA 3127 can similarly find alternate paths by taking I-310 north to I-10, then west to LA 641 (Exit 194), continuing south to LA 3213, and then south to re-join LA 3127.
Further disruptions are expected as St. Charles Parish has issued notifications of upcoming lane closures on LA 3127 and LA 3160 due to utility work. Starting from December 6, through to February 27, 2026, single-lane and shoulder intermittent closures will occur on both routes. Work on these routes will take place Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., with weekend work also scheduled between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The affected start and end cross streets are marked from I-310 to LA 3142 for LA 3127 and from LA 3127 to the Railroad Crossing for LA 3160. For more detailed information about the closures and the recommended detours, residents can refer to the St. Charles Parish government website.
