Detroit City braces for a chilly week ahead as forecasters from the National Weather Service in Detroit have released weather predictions for the start of December. Residents can expect scattered snow showers today after 3 pm, with the day's highs hovering around 31 degrees and gusts reaching up to 26 mph. Those looking to venture out should be prepared for a 40% chance of precipitation, as reported by the National Weather Service.
Tonight, snow showers are likely to continue, primarily before 10 pm. The cloud cover will break as the temperature dips to a low near 17 degrees. The wind will not give residents a break either, blasting from the west northwest at 10 to 13 mph, and gusts, possibly reaching 22 mph. It seems a small consolation, but less than a half inch of new snow is expected.
For those planning their attire for Thursday, sunny skies will offer little warmth, with temperatures steadfast at around 20 degrees. The northwest winds will persist at 8 to 11 mph. Even as night falls, the cold holds its grip—partly cloudy conditions will prevail as temperatures plummet to around 10 degrees.
Continuing into the weekend, Friday's forecast suggests a high near 25 with partial sunshine, whereas the southwest wind blows at 9 to 11 mph, with gusts perhaps flaring as high as 21 mph. Nighttime will usher in mostly cloudy skies once again and a low around 18 degrees, paving the way for a mostly cloudy Saturday with highs creeping up to near 33.
As the week progresses, temperatures will waver just below freezing, with a partly sunny Sunday expected and highs around 30, while nightly lows stoically stand in the mid-teens. By Monday night, snow could return to the scene with the forecast hinting at possible snow showers and an overnight low around 18. Tuesday might also see some snow in the mix, alongside mostly cloudy skies and a high nearing 32.
