Due to multiple media inquiries following a post by Gregory K. Bovino, Slidell Police released information about a recent traffic crash. The incident occurred on December 11, around 7:00 a.m. at the intersection of Airport Road and the Interstate 12 WB off-ramp, according to the Slidell Police Department's Facebook post.
The investigation revealed that 43-year-old Reyna Funez, driving a 2006 Acura MDX, failed to yield while turning right on red. The vehicle collided with a 2021 Ford Expedition traveling north on Airport Road, and Funez was found at fault for disregarding the red light and not having a valid driver’s license, as reported by the Slidell Police Department.
The Ford Expedition was registered to the U.S. Government and operated by federal agents participating in “Operation Catahoula Crunch.” Authorities also determined that Funez was not a legal U.S. resident and took her into custody through U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
