Officers, dispatchers, detectives, and records specialists received commendations for their expertise in resolving two separate theft incidents, both involving retail stores in Eden Prairie.
One case, dating back to July 8th, 2025, unraveled swiftly as EPPD dispatchers received a real-time alert from 3Si regarding a tracking device lifted from a local retailer, which led them to a moving vehicle and after executing a traffic stop on the said vehicle, the driver, working as a contractor for the retailer, confessed to the theft, and that's not all—another stolen item from the same store was discovered in the vehicle, leading to a felony theft arrest. This integration of technology into crime-fighting efforts is reshaping how law enforcement tracks down suspects and retrieves stolen goods.
The second success story, originating from an incident on July 13, 2023, saw 3Si's technology again leading the charge. A stolen device from an Eden Prairie establishment sent signals that pinpointed its location in a parked car at a Scott County casino. Shakopee Police, collaborating with the EPPD, apprehended the car's driver after locating the stolen device inside, and a check further revealed four additional stolen items, compounding the driver's troubles with an already existing, unrelated arrest warrant.
