El Paso Community College (EPCC) is gearing up for a rigorous academic sprint with the launch of its Wintermester session today. Students are offered a unique opportunity to complete an entire course in just four weeks, with classes running from December 15 through January 9. This accelerated schedule is designed to enable students to either catch up or get ahead in their academic journey.
Understanding the demands of such an intensive course load, EPCC's Office of Student Success is stepping up by providing online tutoring services. Available seven days a week, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., this resource aims to foster student achievement during the condensed Wintermester. An array of tutors from the five campus tutoring centers and the RAP program will be accessible, with options for Spanish-speaking students. It's noted that Online Tutoring will be on a brief hiatus from December 24–25 and December 31–January 1.
Students seeking to take advantage of this assistance can connect via the Online Tutoring room as per EPCC. Additionally, the Tutor Finder feature will help students access and schedule tutoring sessions tailored to their individual course needs. This is a proactive move from EPCC, acknowledging that a condensed syllabus leaves little room for error and the necessity of readily available support for their student body.
According to EPCC, the college expressed the importance of offering this level of academic support, saying, "Wintermester courses provide an accelerated path for students looking to catch up, get ahead, or stay on track for graduation." This sentiment reflects the institution's commitment to student success, regardless of the time frame students must complete their coursework in. With resources firmly in place, El Paso Community College stands ready to help its students navigate the compact academic challenge of Wintermester.
