In El Paso, Texas, a man's alleged attempt to make off with a work truck ended with his arrest after local deputies tracked down the vehicle, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office reports. The stolen truck, a white 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 3500, was lifted from a company yard in broad daylight, as surveillance footage pinned an unknown individual behind the wheel at the time of the theft. The truck was valued at a substantial $54,560, flagging the case as a significant loss for the company involved.
Deputies sprang into action on Saturday, after receiving the theft report, converging on the 14700 block of Montana Avenue, where the incident occurred, according to El Paso County Sheriff Oscar Ugarte. Their investigation eventually led them to a residence at the crossway of Flager Street and Tangerine Avenue, where the truck was recovered and from where the suspect, spotted on the property, was arrested without the flair of dramatic confrontation.
Deputies identified the suspect as 32-year-old Ezequiel Alberto Aldana, who now faces the weight of a felony charge for the Theft of Property valued between $30,000 and $150,000, the Sheriff's Office post stated. The El Paso County Detention Facility has become Aldana's new residence for the time being, with the courts setting his bond at $25,000 in light of the charges he's up against.
With the stolen property now back in the rightful hands, the Sheriff's Office evidences the diligence of local law enforcement in apprehending those who disrupt the order with such illicit acts further the message sent across the county is one that theft particularly of this magnitude will meet with a swift and firm response by the authorities, as Ezequiel Alberto Aldana presumably reflects behind bars on whether the attempted heist was worth the brewing storm of legal troubles now on his horizon.
