In a move aimed at recognizing the hard work of its essential employees, the El Paso Independent School District Board of Trustees has approved a one-time stipend for its hourly workers. According to El Paso ISD, eligible employees will receive a $300 payment on December 15, just in time for the holiday season. This gesture is part of the district’s ongoing efforts to support staff members who are integral to student success.

The decision aligns with the district's Board Policy DEA (Local) and comes after earlier commitments made by the trustees when adopting the 2025–2026 Employee Compensation Plan, which included the possibility of additional payments should the district have the funds to support them, the EPISD board had previously stated their intention to reward the staff contingent on available finances, culminating in this latest stipend.

“We are grateful for the dedication and hard work of our hourly employees, who play an essential role in keeping our schools running smoothly and ensuring students are supported every day,” Board President Leah Hanany remarked in an expression of gratitude toward the district’s hourly workers, as per El Paso ISD.

Hourly employees looking to benefit from this stipend need to meet certain criteria; they must be permanent, non-exempt workers who were hired on or before December 1, and they must be actively employed by the district on the stipend's disbursement date of December 15. Taxes and various deductions will apply to the stipend as usual, as per the district's stipulations.
