In El Paso, an incident of reported domestic violence led to the arrest of 29-year-old Shain Lewis Dotson after he allegedly struck a deputy during a confrontation, as announced by the El Paso County Sheriff's Office in a recent social media post. The event, which unfolded on Sunday, December 21, saw deputies arriving at a residence situated on the 12600 block of Katherine Brennand, where the conflict with Dotson ensued.
According to El Paso County Sheriff Oscar Ugarte, Dotson proved uncooperative with law enforcement, which led to his resistance. During this altercation, a deputy received a blow to the face, and Dotson’s actions culminated in his being subdued and arrested by the deputies.
As detailed by the Sheriff's Office, Dotson is now facing charges for Assault on a Peace Officer and Resisting Arrest, following his transport to the El Paso County Detention Facility; he remains there, with a bond set at $16,500. The incident underscores the risks law enforcement officers face when responding to domestic situations, and the subsequent legal repercussions for those who impede their duties.
