Abe Mac, the El Paso–born country singer-songwriter, is back in town for the fourth annual Spread the Holiday Cheer concert series, mixing school visits with a handful of public holiday shows aimed squarely at local students and families.
According to KTSM, this year’s run includes a performance at a Casa Auto Group Make-A-Wish event on Dec. 17. The schedule also features a free, family-friendly Christmas show at Speaking Rock on Dec. 21 at 5 p.m., with no tickets required. That public concert is set to include a guest appearance by Iris Lopez of 93.1 KISSFM and performances from Mariachi Los Gavilanes.

The Spread the Holiday Cheer program is built as a tight, festive set that fits neatly into the school day. Abe Mac performs holiday songs and reads his children’s book, “Christmas Snow,” to students, as reported by KVIA. Previous runs have focused on short, school-friendly shows designed to energize kids without blowing up the bell schedule.
School visits and local partners
Mac’s stops have historically included local districts and tribal schools, and this year’s lineup lists Socorro ISD and Ysleta del Sur Pueblo among the hosts. Socorro ISD’s live feed notes that Abe Mac has brought festive performances to #TeamSISD schools and that district mariachi groups have joined him onstage for special numbers in prior years, according to Socorro ISD.
Why he does it
“Bringing Christmas magic to kids makes me happiest,” Mac told KTSM, adding that watching kids smile, dream big, and feel inspired is the real payoff. Mac is an El Paso native and a Socorro ISD alum who went on to play for UTEP, a detail he has discussed in interviews, per CanvasRebel.
