Priscilla Miranda, a Chapin High School graduate of the Class of 2019, has leaped from an El Paso wrestling enthusiast to a burgeoning talent in Mexico’s prestigious Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre, known as CMLL. Miranda's climb from an EPISD student to professional wrestler is a prime example of someone taking a childhood passion and vigorously turning it into a career.
The El Paso Independent School District celebrated Miranda's achievements in a recent feature, detailing her deep-rooted connection to wrestling and the community backing that helped propel her to the professional stage. According to the EPISD report, Miranda started to earnestly train to become a wrestler from a tender age, supported by a family that collectively nurtured a deep love for the sport. "I always wanted to be a professional wrestler," Miranda told the EPISD.
Before her fame in CMLL, Miranda honed her skills through Olympic-style wrestling. This early foundation evidently eased her transition into the flamboyant world of Lucha Libre. Growing up, WWE superstar John Cena featured prominently in her pantheon of wrestling idols, but the local legend Eddie Guerrero had the most profound influence on her style and ethos in the ring.
While studying at EPISD, Miranda balanced a diverse array of activities, including soccer, Olympic wrestling, engineering, and sports medicine. These experiences not only refined her wrestling tactics but also bolstered her overall work ethic—thanks partly to her father's disciplined approach. "I learned discipline from my dad because he’s a really strict guy," Miranda said, in a statement obtained by EPISD, reflecting on the driving forces behind her rise to professional wrestling. Her story, as she hopes, will serve to inspire other EPISD students to pursue their dreams with unabated determination.
Beyond the personal dedication, Miranda's journey might just spark a renewed recognition for how community support, school programs, and familial encouragement can help to ambitiously carry young talents toward their aspirations, making those childhood dreams a tangible reality.
