In the quiet pre-dawn hours, the streets of Fall River were disrupted by the synchronized steps of law enforcement as the city's Police Department CAST Unit, together with the ESU, descended upon a home on Hamlet Street. The operation targeted Leon Shelby, a 36-year-old man known to the authorities not only for today’s incident but for a chilling connection to a 2023 fatal shooting in Brockton for which he is under GPS-monitored bail. The bust resulted in a significant seizure of narcotics and drug paraphernalia, according to a social media post from the City of Fall River Police Department.
The search warrant executed early this morning led to the apprehension of Shelby outside his residence, followed by the discovery of over 92 grams of substances suspected to be cocaine and crack cocaine. Alongside the drugs, law enforcement found digital scales, items for packaging, a ledger presumably for tracking drug sales, and in excess of six thousand dollars in cash. All items were confiscated and are being processed as evidence. In the light of these findings, Shelby now faces a charge of 'Trafficking in Cocaine' for amounts ranging from 36 to less than 100 grams.
"The FRPD will remain steadfast in pursuing individuals who bring dangerous drugs into our neighborhoods and will continue working tirelessly to ensure they are brought before the courts to answer for their actions," the department stated on social media.
