Fieldwork Brewing Co., a well-established name among Bay Area beer aficionados, is finally planting its stakes in San Francisco soil. Settling into the burgeoning Mission Rock area, the Berkeley-born brewery is slated to open its latest venues where innovation meets libation. The first phase is a scenic outdoor beer garden near China Basin Park, which is set to open tomorrow, with a 3,750-square-foot indoor taproom to follow in the summer at Mission Rock, nestled among tech giants like OpenAI and Nvidia.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that this major move for Fieldwork includes occupying a space in the building that houses Visa’s global headquarters, alongside Via Aurelia restaurant. Fieldwork founder Barry Braden expressed excitement about the new location, predicting that the area "is the up-and-coming area of San Francisco," with prospective bustling activity on game days and special events in partnership with the San Francisco Giants.

Fieldwork's foray into the city comes despite a national downturn in craft beer sales, which saw a 5% decline in volume in 2025, according to the Brewers Association. Yet, Braden remains optimistic, attributing Fieldwork's resilience to its hyper-local focus and the direct-to-customer sales model. "We’re grateful that we haven’t had the headwinds that others have had," Braden noted in his interview with the San Francisco Chronicle.

Some synergistic business is also brewing between Fieldwork Brewing Co. and the SF Giants. An exciting alliance has formed, featuring a collaboration on events, merchandise, and a specialty beer set to launch in spring 2026. This partnership previously saw promotions such as half off draft beer at Fieldwork locations whenever Giants catcher Patrick Bailey scored an RBI. "Baseball has been known to bring people together for generations — and so has great craft beer," said Braden in a statement obtained by SFGATE.
