Fishers, Indiana, is closing out the year on a high note with impressive enhancements to their local green spaces that would make any urban planner nod with respect. As part of their annual "Best of Fishers" recap, the Fishers Indiana Government highlighted the community’s latest efforts to ramp up outdoor amenities with some notable upgrades - think parks and trails getting a facelift; those ubiquitous respites where the locals can kick back or kick on their running shoes. Recent social media posts from the city government detail these upgrades like they're reading off a holiday wish list that came true.
Included in this year's successes is the opening of the new White River Park and the unveiling of 106 Plaza along the Nickel Plate Trail, which, by the way, comes "Strengthened by IU Health." According to the city’s Facebook announcement, these spaces are more than just pretty spots to take a selfie, offering "new spaces to gather, relax, and stay active" – borrowing the classic line of "more is more" when it comes to civic benefits.
We're talking about environmental benefits, coupled with an uptick in public health - because nothing says "community wellness" like a leisurely bike ride or a rigorous jog down a scenic path, framed by the charm of nature and, presumably, the occasional pop-up coffee cart.
