Gearing up for a musical journey through America's past, Play Frisco's Cultural Affairs Division has laid out the red, white, and blue carpet for "Music in the Chamber 2026", a concert series that promises to deliver a harmony-rich narrative of the nation's 250-year history. According to the City of Frisco, the six-month series will kick off in January with a monthly showcase of performances representing distinct 50-year periods in American history, all taking place in the acoustically sublime Frisco City Council Chambers.
The lineup of artists is as diverse as the eras they represent. On January 23 at 7:30 p.m., the Austin Baroque Orchestra will transport attendees back to the years from 1776 to 1826, with tickets already up for grabs. Following them in February, the SEUM Chamber will echo the sounds of 1826 to 1876, while March's concert will swing into the jazz-infused epoch of 1876 to 1926, led by Stockton Helbing & Helbing Jazz Initiative. April will see The Buffalo Ruckus stirring the spirit of 1926 through 1976, and in May, the Verdigris Ensemble will perform pieces touching on "The Velveteen Rabbit," a treasured American children's story. Closing the series, June's concert features Nadodi, slated for a daytime performance that will bridge music from 1976 straight through to 2026. Each show embodies a passage of Americana, interpreted through an array of musical genres and historical lenses.
