The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has taken up the case of a 17-year-old Antonio Thornton Jr. from Loganville, Georgia, found dead in Bloomingdale. According to an official statement released by GBI, they were called in by the Bloomingdale Police Department to investigate the incident.
It is reported that the call came through to Chatham County 911 last Sunday morning around 7:43 a.m. First responders found Thornton's body outside of the Magnolia Lane Apartments on US Hwy. 80, with a gunshot wound. Attempts to rapidly move forward with the case have been made, as Thornton was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body is scheduled to be taken to the GBI Crime Lab in Pooler for an autopsy. This is expected to help determine the cause and manner of his death.
This case is currently active, with ongoing investigations. The Bloomingdale Police Department and the GBI are seeking individuals with information about the incident to come forward.
