According to a report by WKRN, law enforcement responded to the scene at approximately 9:50 p.m., where 32-year-old Douglas Winborn was discovered with a life-threatening injury; despite swift medical aid rendered by the responding deputies and successive emergency medical services, Winborn later succumbed to his injuries at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
The Giles County Sheriff's Office stated that the suspect, identified as Justin Straw, was apprehended at the site of the incident, leading to his booking into the Giles County Jail on charges of first-degree murder, aggravated assault, and domestic assault, the circumstances of the altercation remain under investigation as the local community grapples with the sudden and tragic loss, Straw's arrest has prompted an ongoing investigation with law enforcement working diligently to piece together the events leading up to the altercation.
