A quiet Sunday morning in Houston’s Gulfton neighborhood turned into a homicide scene when a man was found shot to death between apartment buildings, according to police. First responders initially arrived for what was reported as a medical call, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound.
Officers were dispatched around 7:30 a.m. to a complex in the 5900 block of Glenmont Drive, near Renwick Drive and Gulfton Street, where they found the victim outside between apartments, per Click2Houston. Houston Police Department homicide detectives have since taken over the case and are treating the death as a murder investigation, according to FOX 26 Houston.
Investigators Seek Leads
HPD’s homicide division is asking anyone with information to call 713-308-3600, the department told FOX 26 Houston. Detectives are canvassing the complex, checking nearby security cameras and interviewing potential witnesses as they work to reconstruct the victim’s final moments.
Gulfton Has Seen Similar Incidents
Glenmont Drive has been no stranger to gun violence in recent years. A drive-by that wounded a woman at a nearby complex and a separate Glenmont teen shooting have kept the corridor on the radar of both residents and law enforcement. Sunday’s killing adds yet another violent incident to a stretch of southwest Houston many neighbors know all too well.
What Remains Unclear
Police have not released the victim’s name, any possible motive or suspect information. No arrests have been announced, and investigators are urging anyone with tips or video from the area to come forward as the homicide probe continues.
We will update this post if HPD releases further details. Anyone with information can contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.
