The Gretna Police Department is promoting a safety initiative called Operation Save A Life, which provides free smoke alarm installations for local residents. According to a recent social media update, the program will run from December 28 through May 1, 2026.
The Gretna Police Department emphasized the initiative’s importance, noting that “more than 50% of injuries and deaths from house fires in the U.S. could have been prevented if the home had a working smoke alarm.” The program also provides fire safety information to the public.
