Virtual meetings in Hawai‘i are facing disruptions from “Zoom bombing,” where outsiders share offensive content, make noises, or spam chats, sometimes forcing boards to cancel meetings. According to the Hawai‘i Government, the Office of Information Practices (OIP) reports these incidents and highlights new guidance from the State’s Enterprise Technology Services (ETS).
ETS released step-by-step guides for Zoom and Microsoft Teams, available on the OIP website, to help hosts prevent, manage, and recover from such intrusions. As remote work and virtual meetings remain common, these guides aim to protect the integrity of online gatherings and reduce interruptions, supporting smoother collaboration for boards, schools, and organizations.
