The Horizon City Police Department reported an arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon on Sunday, November 30. According to a social media post by the Horizon City Police Department, at approximately 11:28 p.m., an officer initiated a traffic stop on Horizon Boulevard, prompted by a vehicle traveling sans headlights, during which the driver, Jonathan Ontiveros, exhibited indicators suggestive of drug interaction, leading to a consensual vehicle search. The department reported that the search yielded a vape pen containing suspected THC and a handgun secreted beneath a passenger seat.
After the discovery, both the suspected narcotics and the firearm were seized as evidence. Soon after, Ontiveros was detained for further interrogation, then later processed, and he was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility, his bail placed at a sum of $4,000. Horizon City Police underscore the significance of communal vigilance and the invaluable role it plays in notifying authorities of dubious or narcotic-related undertakings, expressing gratitude for the public's continued engagement in such matters.
The call for collaboration comes with an encouragement from the police department, they beckon residents to keep eyes wide and hearts unafraid in reporting activities that whiff of suspicion or worse, those stained by the scent of illicit drug use. Horizon City Police emphasize that the partnership between the community and law enforcement is an essential chord in the harmony of safety that plays throughout their streets. They have publicly shared the contact information for anyone who might hold the key to further intelligence, which might deepen not only the narrative of this case but could very well fortify the city's defense against similar transgressions.
