Over the weekend, the Horizon City Police Department apprehended a local man on suspicion of driving while intoxicated (DWI). According to a recent social media post from the Horizon City Police Department, last Saturday, November 29, Horizon City officers were on patrol when they initiated a traffic stop at around 12:30 AM in the 14900 block of Eastlake Boulevard.
Indications of intoxication were presented by Andres Daniel Martinez, the driver, leading to an on-scene evaluation. Subsequently, he was placed under arrest. A breath sample acquired later confirmed that Martinez's blood alcohol content exceeded the legal limit. As posted by the Horizon City Police Department, "During the stop, officers identified the driver as Martinez, who showed signs of intoxication," and was thereafter taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated.
Martinez faced a booking at the El Paso County Detention Facility, with the bond set at $1,000 for the DWI charge. The Horizon City Police used this incident to reassert a community-wide plea - plan for a sober ride home and ensure to report any suspicion of impaired driving by calling 9-1-1. "Working together helps keep our roadways safe for all," the Horizon City Police Department's post emphasised this communal responsibility.
While incidents like these serve as stark reminders of the dangers of impaired driving, the Horizon City Police Department's efforts to curb such offenses seem to be unyielding. As they continue to urge residents to make responsible choices, the streets are patrolled with vigilant eyes that are crucial in such efforts. Presented with a bail, Martinez's case now transitions into the legal system—another chapter in the ongoing narrative of law enforcement's battle against driving under the influence.
