The Horizon City Police Department has reported an arrest following a traffic stop last week for a driving under the influence offense. On the night of November 28, a vehicle was pulled over near Horizon Blvd. and Darrington Rd. for a moving violation. During the routine investigation, officers encountered the driver, identified as Jonathan Vela, who exhibited signs suggesting intoxication.
Subsequent to the initial contact, law enforcement conducted further evaluation. A breathalyzer administered to Vela revealed a blood alcohol level that exceeded the state's legal limits. Based on the findings, Vela was arrested and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility. According to the Horizon City Police Department's social media post, his bond was set at $2,000.
The Horizon City PD took the opportunity to remind the local community about the dangers of impaired driving. "We’d like to remind our community to always make safe choices behind the wheel. If you plan to drink, please arrange a sober ride. And remember—if you see suspected impaired driving, call 9-1-1 right away. Your vigilance helps keep Horizon City safe," the Horizon City PD stated in their post. This incident signals the ongoing effort by law enforcement to address driving while intoxicated, promoting road safety and public awareness.
