A fresh Indian restaurant concept is heading to Schaumburg, where Biryani Baithak is set to move into Salem Plaza at 1125 N Salem Drive. Owner Saad Abdulazeez has been quietly hyping the spot on social media with shots of curry chicken and other dishes, but so far, he has not locked in a public opening date. The restaurant will sit near the corner of Golf Road and Higgins Quarter Drive, just a short drive from Woodfield Mall.
According to What Now Chicago, the first public tease dropped in a Nov. 19 social media post featuring the promise of "Authentic flavors, fresh dishes, and the true taste of Hyderabad." When the outlet reached out for more information, Abdulazeez declined to elaborate and instead pointed diners to the restaurant’s Facebook presence for future updates.
Space and site history
The new buildout is taking over the former Pita & Kabobz space at 1125 N Salem Drive, as listed by RestaurantJump. The address sits within Salem Plaza, which CommercialSearch highlights for its visibility at Golf Road and Salem Drive and its proximity to Woodfield Mall, a combination that keeps foot traffic flowing through the retail center.
Neighbors and the plaza
When Biryani Baithak opens, it will land in the middle of an already busy pocket of Asian and international dining. MapQuest lists Koreana Restaurant at 1123 N Salem Drive, serving Korean fare next door. Local directories show EggMania - a modern Indian restaurant and bar - operating at 1133–1135 N Salem Drive.
For a broader neighborhood snapshot, Chai Biscuit Cafe runs a chai and boba shop a short drive away near Woodfield Mall, giving the area a growing cluster of South Asian-inspired options before Biryani Baithak even opens its doors.
Menu and timeline
So far, there is no public menu and no firm opening timeline. What Now Chicago notes that Abdulazeez declined to share additional details when contacted and that the debut social post stuck to a short teaser and photos rather than specifics on dishes or hours. For now, anyone curious about the exact lineup of Hyderabadi biryani and South Indian fare will have to keep an eye on local listings and the restaurant’s social channels.
Schaumburg already has a foothold in Hyderabadi and broader South Asian cooking. For instance, Hyderabad House serves Hyderabadi-style biryani and other regional specialties in the area. Biryani Baithak will be stepping into that existing landscape, and if it leans into traditional Hyderabadi flavors as teased, it could carve out a more specialized choice for workers and shoppers circulating through the Woodfield Mall corridor.
