A 57-year-old man, Bobby Clark, died while in custody at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, as confirmed by the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office yesterday. According to a report by FOX 5 Atlanta, Clark was found unresponsive last Sunday and despite efforts from paramedics to perform life-saving measures, he did not survive.
During the pre-booking phase, Clark was referred to a hospital for medical treatment, but he refused care and was subsequently returned to jail to complete the booking process. During some time, Clark was arrested on a charge of criminal trespass along Austell Road, as per a statement obtained by Patch.
An autopsy will be conducted by the Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the official cause of Clark's death. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation stepped in to conduct the investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death, as informed by the Cobb County Sheriff's office, which also will conduct an internal investigation as described by a statement obtained by Patch.
