Three Shelby County residents have won significant prizes in the Tennessee Lottery, resulting in a notably larger holiday season for them. One winner matched five of the six Powerball numbers last night, earning a million-dollar prize. According to Action News 5, the million-dollar ticket was sold at the Food Mart on Quince Road in Memphis.
In addition, two other residents won substantial prizes. A Memphis resident won $100,000 by matching four numbers and the Powerball with the Power Play feature; the winning ticket was sold at the All in One Shelby on East Shelby Drive. In Germantown, another individual won $50,000 by matching four of five numbers plus the Powerball in the Double Play drawing. That ticket was purchased at Fast Gas on Poplar Avenue, as reported by WREG.
The local wins precede an even larger potential prize. The Powerball jackpot has reached $1.7 billion, marking the fourth-largest jackpot in U.S. history. Today's drawing did not produce a top winner. The size of the jackpot has increased interest and participation among lottery players nationwide.
Regarding the local winnings, the numbers drawn were 3, 18, 36, 41, 54, and the Powerball 7, as stated by FOX13 Memphis. Ticket sales at local vendors have increased following the wins and the rising jackpot. The next Powerball drawing is scheduled for Christmas Eve.
