A 65-year-old man from Jonesborough has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault, as per a recent post by the Washington County Sheriff's Office. Ronnie Kaye Jones was apprehended after allegedly firing a shotgun at another individual. This incident took place on Haines Road within the 3900 block of Highway 81 South.
Last Friday, around 2:30 p.m., deputies were dispatched quickly following reports of the incident. They were responding to a situation already heightened by a prior 911 call. A witness had reached out to alert authorities that Jones had threatened to severely harm the victim. According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, the threat included shooting the victim and cutting his throat. Despite the high-stress scenario, deputies managed to take Jones into custody without further incident.
Following the arrest, Jones was located in the 500 block of Rock House Road. He is now being held at the Washington County Detention Center. Sheriff Keith Sexton's team has set his bond at $50,000. As the judicial process hastily unfolds, Ronnie Kaye Jones is expected to appear in court today.
