The Knoxville Police Department is currently investigating a fatal shooting that took place on the evening of Friday, on E. Magnolia Avenue, as confirmed by multiple sources. Responding to the incident shortly before 8:30 p.m., KPD officers discovered an 18-year-old male with gunshot wounds in the parking lot of the 2300 block near Olive Street, reported WVLT.

Despite receiving immediate medical aid from the officers at the scene, the victim was later pronounced dead at the UT Medical Center. His identity remains withheld. WATE noted that detectives are looking into the possibility that the deadly incident was preceded by an altercation inside a nearby building.

No suspects have been identified or charged in connection with the shooting as the investigation carries on. The Knoxville Police Department's spokesperson Scott Erland stated, "The circumstances surrounding the shooting are unconfirmed at this time and remain under investigation," in a news release acquired by WBIR.

KPD is urging anyone with information that may contribute to the investigation to reach out. While remaining anonymous, tipsters are encouraged to contact East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers at 865-215-7165, and may be eligible to receive a cash reward.
