LaGrange police are investigating a stabbing incident that occurred in the 2200 block of Vernon Street, which has resulted in the arrest of a woman named Alexius Smith. The altercation took place at Prose Apartments, where authorities responded to a distress call last Saturday, discovering a man, identified only as "Sheppard," with multiple stab wounds. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, Sheppard suffered significant blood loss and was immediately treated at the scene.
During the investigation, police have come to understand that the suspect, Alexius Smith, is the mother of Sheppard's child and allegedly assaulted him during an argument inside the apartment. Smith has been charged with aggravated assault involving family violence and possession of a knife during the commission of a felony. Atlanta News First reported that Smith was taken into custody on Tuesday and is being held at Troup County Jail.
