
A late Sunday night drive on East William Cannon Drive turned fatal when a single vehicle crashed in the 4900 block, killing the man behind the wheel, according to Austin police. The driver, identified as Michael Anthony Tasso, born July 9, 1991, was pronounced dead at the scene. APD’s crash investigators are treating the wreck as a fatal collision.
In a media release, the City of Austin said officers responded around 11:58 p.m. and recorded the incident as case 25-3551563. The department also shared details on Facebook, noting that investigators had not yet released any information about possible contributing factors in the initial statement.

The William Cannon corridor has already seen more than its share of tragedy this year. In May, there was a fatal crash on the 4600 block that later resulted in another death.
