
A pre-dawn burst of gunfire in a north Fort Worth parking lot yesterday ended with one person fatally wounded, and homicide detectives called in to sort out what happened along Fossil Bluff Drive.
Fort Worth police said officers were dispatched around 2:38 a.m. to the 6600 block of Fossil Bluff Drive, where they found a person in a parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, according to WFAA.
Television coverage identified the scene as the parking lot outside Flip's Patio Grill, a restaurant that sits along Fossil Bluff Drive. CBS News Texas reported that first responders found the victim outside the restaurant and that medics took the person to the hospital.
The Dallas Morning News later reported that the victim was pronounced dead at the hospital. Detectives told the outlet that two people fired multiple rounds into a vehicle before running off on foot and that no arrests had been made as of that report.
Investigation Underway
Homicide detectives have not released the victim's identity or any possible motive as they continue to work the case. In a press release, the Fort Worth Police Department said officers were interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence, according to WFAA.
