Downtown Lawton is set to shine a bit brighter with the much-anticipated Light Up C Avenue project wrapping up, thanks to a partnership between the Lawton Enhancement Trust Authority (LETA) and the City of Lawton. According to a statement obtained by the City of Lawton's website, strings of decorative lights now drape the street between 4th and 5th Streets.
The journey to this moment has spanned years and now an official lighting ceremony is scheduled for December 23 at 5:30 p.m.—the event is open to the public, for this project reflects more than a mere aesthetic upgrade it underscores a commitment to reinvigorating the downtown area; LETA's Chairman Barry Ezerski has emphasized the importance of building a welcoming and energetic downtown scene through initiatives like these. The project currently illuminates one block; however, the plan is to ultimately brighten the stretch from 2nd Street to 6th Street along C Avenue and possibly beyond, as reported by the City of Lawton.
LETA spearheaded the lighting initiative, with crucial support coming from the City of Lawton's Electronics Maintenance Division, their expertise proved instrumental for the installation.
