Leadership Park City, a program dedicated to molding local leaders through civic and leadership training, has its eyes set on Vail and Breckenridge, Colorado, for its renowned "City Tour" in the upcoming year. The expedition, scheduled for May 27-31, 2026, aims to foster an exchange of progressive ideas and experiences between local decision-makers and their counterparts in these like-minded mountain communities.
City Tour, an annual tradition stretching back 32 years, facilitates discussions and tours that offer insight into the methods through which other towns tackle issues mirroring those of Park City and Summit County; issues such as housing, transit, infrastructure, and sustainability, which are high on the list of commonalities between these towns, according to the Park City government official website. The fetching backdrops of Vail and Breckenridge provide more than just scenic beauty, they serve as case studies in creativity and determination within their own rights, posited to contribute to the lived experiences and planning capacities of more than just their valued tourists and residents.
The tour's itinerary is robust, featuring engagements with Vail and Breckenridge mayors and the executive team from Vail Resorts. Leadership Park City Program Director Scott van Hartesvelt highlighted the virtues of the chosen locales, remarking, "Vail and Breckenridge are both dynamic mountain towns that have taken big swings in recent years to improve their communities, including work on housing, transit, infrastructure, and sustainability,” he noted enthusiastically, as Park City's own sovereign representatives gear up to glean lessons from the successes and trials of their high-altitude peers.
Grounded in a mission to cultivate informed and active leaders, Leadership Park City has consistently invested in the power of education and hands-on experience, its monthly workshops engaging local and state topics led by personalities knee-deep in the ongoings directly affecting the region; a testament to its founding patronage of local government, business, and community stakeholders.
