Livermore has been rocked by a homicide investigation that has progressed rapidly with the arrest of a suspect. Official sources confirm that on Tuesday, the Livermore Police Department dispatched officers to a home located on the 1000 block of North P. Street for a welfare check at approximately 3:40 PM. There, authorities found a 55-year-old man deceased with multiple stab wounds. He was last seen alive last Friday, just days before the grisly discovery. This information was disclosed in a social media post by the Livermore Police Department.
The investigation took a turn when the Livermore Police Criminal Investigations Bureau began to quickly follow up on investigative leads, which led them to identify 30-year-old Brayam Chirinos as the suspect. Chirinos, who was the victim's roommate, had been living with the deceased at the time of the murder. On Wednesday, San Francisco Police, aided by the Citywide Plain Clothes Unit and Real Time Investigation Center, were able to locate and swiftly arrest Chirinos in San Francisco as he was driving the victim's vehicle. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail on a homicide charge without any reported incidents.
Beyond the current investigation, Chirinos is not unknown to law enforcement, as he has an extensive criminal history spread across multiple states. "Chrinos has an extensive criminal history, including prior arrests for DUI, assault, domestic violence, and false imprisonment in both Florida and Texas," the Livermore Police Department noted. He also has an active warrant in Florida for battery and violation of probation, further clouding his past with criminal undertones. The Livermore Police Chief, Jeramy Young, expressed his gratitude in a statement, "I want to thank our detectives for their swift work in identifying and locating the suspect," acknowledging the efficacy of the interdepartmental efforts that led to the arrest.
