Rapper and reality TV star Erica Banks has once again found herself on the wrong side of the law after being arrested in DeKalb County on drug charges. The "Love & Hip Hop Atlanta" cast member was taken into custody during a traffic stop on Monday, according to FOX 5 Atlanta. Police reports indicate that Banks, whose real name is Erica Breaux, was found with MDMA and marijuana intended for distribution when her vehicle was stopped for displaying an illegal tinted tag cover. Amani Dirton, who was driving a vehicle that turned out to be stolen from Atlanta, was also arrested.
At the time of the arrest, officers ordered Breaux and Dirton out of the car and proceeded to conduct an inventory search, revealing the suspected drugs. Breaux is facing charges of felony possession with intent to distribute MDMA and marijuana, while Dirton is charged with felony theft by receiving a stolen vehicle, along with other related charges, as reported by CBS News Atlanta. This incident marks another run-in with law enforcement for Banks, who made headlines earlier this year for an unrelated matter involving a firearm at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
The previous encounter in August with airport security led to Banks' arrest after TSA officers discovered a stolen handgun in her carry-on luggage. The weapon in question had reportedly been lifted out of South Carolina and resulted in charges of theft by receiving stolen property. Despite these legal troubles, Breaux was later released, and details surrounding her bond at the time were not disclosed.
Banks, known for hits such as "Buss It" and "Toot That," joined the VH1 reality series in 2023 and quickly became a notable face of the franchise. Following her most recent legal stumble, Breaux and Dirton were both booked into the DeKalb County Jail. Inquiring about the mugshots and seeking additional details, FOX 5 Atlanta has reached out to the authorities but has yet to receive a response.
