Yesterday morning, a coordinated operation led by the Western Massachusetts Gang Task Force resulted in the arrest of Carlos Cordova Jr., 23, in Holyoke, on charges related to drug trafficking. The Holyoke Police Department, working closely with Task Force officers, Chicopee Police, and Hampden County Sheriff’s Department, successfully executed a search warrant at Cordova’s Beech Street apartment as well as his vehicle.
The operation, as announced by Holyoke Police Chief Brian Keenan, saw the seizure of significant amounts of narcotics, confirming long-held suspicions about the location being a hub for the illegal distribution of crack-cocaine and heroin/fentanyl. Investigators have been closely monitoring Cordova Jr., aiming to comprehensively dismantle his alleged operations. A statement from the Holyoke Police Department details the arrest, firmly illustrating the department's resolve in tackling the blight of drugs in the community.
The search began early in the morning at around 5:05 a.m., with law enforcement moving to quickly detain the suspects. While Cordova was apprehended, two other individuals present in the apartment at the time of the raid were subsequently released. Chicopee K9 Jax was instrumental in the operation, signaling officers to the presence of drugs in Cordova's vehicle, which revealed additional illicit substances.
Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered roughly 130 bags of suspected heroin/fentanyl, approximately 24.8 grams of crack-cocaine, and suspected oxycodone. These finds add to an already serious list of charges for Cordova, who is now facing charges that include cocaine trafficking of 18-36 grams, possession with the intent to distribute a Class A drug, and possession of a Class A drug.
