A tragic incident at Bean Hollow Beach near Pescadero resulted in the death of a man who was fishing with his wife. The response to the emergency took place yesterday, just after 3:00 PM, when the woman returned to find her husband missing, and a bystander noticed a body in the water, as reported by the CAL FIRE CZU San Mateo-Santa Cruz Unit in a social media post.
Firefighters alongside other first responders, including San Mateo County Fire, Coastside Fire, Pillar Point Harbor Patrol, and the US Coast Guard engaged in rescue efforts after they were alerted by the bystander, Cal Fire's statement revealed a grim series of events, the woman, who was with the victim, had briefly left to go to their car and upon her return, she discovered that her husband, who had been fishing alongside her, was inexplicably no longer there.
The combined efforts of CAL FIRE, local fire departments, the Coast Guard, and others at the scene were not enough to save the man's life. Despite attempts at life-saving measures, the man, said to be in his 30s, could not be revived, according to SFGATE.
