A 41-year-old man was found deceased after a house fire early Sunday morning in the Milneburg neighborhood of New Orleans, reported the New Orleans Fire Department. Firefighters were dispatched to the 2300 block of Vienna Street at around 7:16 a.m. following reports of a dwelling fire, according to WWLTV.
Upon arrival four minutes later, crews faced a single-story, single-family home with visible flames. "Firefighters began attacking the fire from inside while also searching the home for occupants," New Orleans Fire Department stated. During the search, the unnamed man was discovered unresponsive, in what the NOFD called the family room of the residence, and he was pronounced dead on the scene, the cause of the his death, and the fire are under investigation, per the NOLA.com report.
The operation involved seven New Orleans Fire Department fire units and 21 firefighters, who managed to get the fire under control by 7:52 a.m. FOX 8 Live reported the victim as the resident of the burned home. The response team's efforts ensured that the blaze did not spread to neighboring properties.
The New Orleans Police Department is working closely with New Orleans Fire Department investigators to determine the cause of the fire, and the man's cause of death. At this time, no further details have been released regarding the incident, authorities did not release his name, and no information was available about his cause of death, as "the cause of the fire and the man’s cause of death are still under investigation," New Orleans Fire Department mentioned, as per NOLA.com.
