Early Monday morning brought tragedy to the Grahamwood neighborhood of Memphis with a house fire that sent one man to the hospital. The Memphis Fire Department reported that crews responded to a blaze on Given Avenue near North Graham Street, where a 68-year-old man was critically injured with smoke inhalation and subsequently hospitalized, as Action News 5 reported.
In the wake of the conflagration, Memphis Police Department officers were called at approximately 5:15 a.m. for traffic control, according to FOX 13 Memphis. The fire appeared to be voracious, rapidly engulfing the house by the time reporters arrived on the scene.
While firefighters remained on scene combating the flames, and the Regional One burn unit cared for the man, questions about the origin of the fire persisted. Fire investigators are actively working to ascertain the cause of the fire, as per Action News 5. Fire department officials have yet to release additional details on the incident.
