Early this morning, a man was left wounded after a police shooting incident that took place near Rainbow Rd and Sundance Pkwy in Buckeye. According to the Buckeye police department, officers were called to a scene of a reported fight involving a group of individuals at a residence located on Ashleigh Marie Dr. around 3:45 a.m.
Upon arrival, an officer encountered an armed man in his 40s which quickly escalated into an officer-involved shooting. The suspect received a gunshot wound to his arm during the confrontation. Notably, the responding officer then immediately provided medical assistance, applying a tourniquet to control the bleeding until emergency services arrived, described a statement from the Buckeye police. The injured man was transported to a local hospital to receive further treatment for his injuries. The policeman involved was unharmed in the incident.
The shooting is currently undergoing an investigation by the West Valley Investigative Response Team. Glendale police are spearheading this examination into the events that transpired. No further details about the cause of the initial altercation or the man's condition have been released as of yet.
