A road rage incident near a New Hampshire mall turned violent Thursday evening when a man wielding a baseball bat shattered a family's car windshield. The attack occurred just before 6:30 p.m. near Rockingham Park Boulevard in Salem, according to Boston 25 News. Multiple 911 calls from witnesses led to the arrest of 21-year-old Anthony Bennett Rovelo Baldovino of Manchester, charged with kidnapping and reckless conduct with a deadly weapon.
According to NBC Boston, after being cut off in traffic, Rovelo Baldovino exited his Subaru Impreza and retrieved a baseball bat from his trunk. He smashed the windshield of a Massachusetts family's car while their two children, an infant and a small child, were inside, leaving glass on one of the car seats.
Witnesses described the suspect and his vehicle, allowing New Hampshire State Police to stop Rovelo Baldovino on Interstate 93 north near mile marker 11. He admitted to the attack, calling himself 'stupid,' and now faces multiple charges. He was held without bail pending arraignment Friday morning in Salem District Court.
The Salem Police Department continues to investigate the incident and urges anyone with information to contact Officer Christopher Markey at 603-893-1911. The family affected by the attack is dealing with the trauma and damage to their vehicle.
