In the quiet suburban landscape of Mansfield, MA, an act of violence pierced the night, only to be met by the swift and life-saving response of local law enforcement. The Mansfield Police Department has taken to social media to recognize the critical actions of Officer Christopher Sorge following a stabbing incident that left one man severely injured. Last Tuesday night, officers responded to a distress call from a residence on Maple Street, where they discovered a victim suffering from multiple stab wounds.
According to the Mansfield Police Department's post, Officer Sorge was the first officer on the scene, where, his training kicking in, he quickly applied a tourniquet, mitigating the victim's severe blood loss. All the while, Sorge maintained clear communication with the dispatch, ensuring that the arriving fire department was primed with the necessary information to provide immediate care. This rapid intervention occurred before the Mansfield Fire Department arrived, effectively providing the victim with a fighting chance at survival.
The victim was subsequently rushed to a local hospital where surgery was performed and his recovery is underway. Fire Chief Justin Desrosiers didn't hold back his admiration for Officer Sorge's composure under stress, underscoring the importance of bleeding control measures as a critical life-saving skill. In a letter praising the officer's actions Police Chief Ronald Sellon said, "Officer Sorge acted decisively and without hesitation in a high-stress situation," as reported by the Mansfield Police Department.
While the details surrounding the stabbing are still unfolding as the Mansfield Police Department delves deeper into the case, early indications suggest the incident was not a random act. Their investigation is ongoing. The department also expressed its gratitude towards the Foxborough Police Department for their support during this ordeal.
