In a recent post by the Maple Grove Police Department, shared on their Facebook page, a lost feline friend is awaiting their human counterpart. The police are reaching out to the public in hopes of finding the owner of a domestic short-haired cat found on December 5, 2025. Described as dark gray & white and somewhat lacking in social graces, the kitty was found near the intersection of 91st Pl N and 91st Ave N in Maple Grove.
Found scared and described as "not so friendly but cute," the cat is currently being cared for at PUPS. The local authorities took to social media, realizing the unique role platforms can play in aiding and reuniting lost pets with their anxious owners. They urge anyone with information to step forward. "If this is your cat, or you know who the owner is, please contact PUPS directly at 763-494-5999 or the Maple Grove Police Department at 952-258-5321," said the Maple Grove Police Department's post.
The police department has asked that the rightful owner provide proof of ownership before reclaiming their pet. This is a standard procedure to ensure pets are returned to their correct homes, given the significant bond and responsibility that pet ownership entails. Community members are encouraged to share the police department's post to cast a wide net, maximizing the chance of the cat's owner seeing the appeal.
Maple Grove Police Department's approach, in keeping with the times, recognizes the impact of collective community effort through social media in resolving such situations. Found near 91st Pl N / 91st Ave N, the department is hopeful someone will recognize the cat. Their Facebook post reflects an understanding that pets are more than animals; they are companions who weave into the tapestry of family life. In telling those who recognize the pet to contact them, the police continue their public service beyond just human concerns, extending into the well-being of four-legged residents.
