With the holiday season in full swing, the City of Martinsville, Indiana provided a social media solution for those caught in the Christmas rush. Offering an alternative to the often hectic online shopping experience, a Facebook post from the municipality suggested residents shop locally to avoid shipping woes. "Skip the shipping stress," the City of Martinsville advised, emphasizing that purchases at downtown shops could be taken home immediately, foregoing "tracking numbers, no surprise fees, no frantic wondering if it’ll arrive in time."
Particularly on December 24, many of the local outlets adjusted their hours to accommodate last-minute shoppers. For example, The Sterling Butterfly opened from 9 AM to 2 PM and UHB set its hours from 10 AM to 4 PM. According to the city's post, even Sidney & Girlfriends Nail & Day Spa extended its services from 9 AM to Noon.
Other businesses that kept doors open on Christmas Eve included Fables and Fairy Tales, which was ready for patrons from 10 AM to 3 PM, and Martinsville Candy Kitchen from 10 AM to 2 PM, each ensuring that customers had access to their unique offerings without the online hassle. Under the shadow of closures, Hometown Nutrition Martinsville aimed to serve the community, bright and early from 6:30 AM to Noon.
As the city reminded folks, while some spots like Krypton Comics held the fort from Noon to 5:00 PM, numerous operators had already closed their registers. Latitude 39, however, held solid to its normal hours from 11 AM to 10 PM, steadfast amidst the holiday chaos.
The local post also listed additional businesses with adjusted hours and services. Main Street Grill Martinsville welcomed diners until 9 PM, and Greek’s Pizzeria Martinsville & the Groggy Goat Taproom kept the food and drinks coming until 7 PM. The community was also reminded that all non-emergency city offices closed yesterday and would not resume regular activity until the following Monday.
Further information regarding last-minute shopping options and city services during the festive period was made available on the City of Martinsville's official social media pages.
