According to a statement the eatery shared on social media, its landlord proposed the heightened rent earlier this year, calling it "one far beyond what (Lucky Dog Grille) can realistically sustain," as reported by WCPO.
Attempts to negotiate more manageable payment terms were unsuccessful, despite persistent talks over the course of six months. An impassioned farewell message to patrons underscored the hardship of making such a decision: "For the past six months, we’ve been trying to work out a fair rent agreement with our landlord, but we haven’t been able to reach a resolution. With rent and overall costs rising across the board, we’ve made the tough decision to close the restaurant," the owners revealed on their social media pages, as stated by WLWT.
