A structure fire on Piihana Road in Maui left seven people homeless on Sunday. The Maui Fire Department responded around 6:45 p.m. to an 800-square-foot home and an RV that were fully engulfed in flames, as reported by KHON2.
The fire, which destroyed a house valued at $128,000, was extinguished by 9 p.m., and no injuries were reported since the home was unoccupied. The displaced residents are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross, as per Hawaii News Now.
Preliminary investigations suggest the fire may have been intentionally set, though the exact cause and total damage, including to an RV on the property, are still under review. Authorities have not released information on suspects or motives, while the community is providing support to those affected.
