Residents of Maui County will have access to the upgraded Lānaʻi Fifth Street Courts, which are scheduled to reopen today following renovations. The County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation stated that the renovated facility will support multiple sports, including pickleball, tennis, volleyball, and basketball, providing a modernized setting for community recreation.
According to the County of Maui, the court upgrades are part of an effort to provide Lānaʻi residents with safe and high-quality recreational facilities. The renovated Lānaʻi Fifth Street Courts include features designed to improve accessibility and usability for the community.
Renovations that began in late January included resurfacing the courts for multiple sports, installing a new lighting system to extend play hours, and adding ADA-compliant amenities. The upgraded lighting replaces the system that had been out of service since 2014, enabling matches during early morning and evening hours.
Additional updates include new fencing, windscreens, and sports equipment, including nets for pickleball and tennis, as well as hoops and backboards for basketball. The facility also now features an ADA-accessible water fountain with a water bottle refill station.
Community members seeking information about the upgraded facilities or the Department of Parks and Recreation can visit the DPR website or contact the Planning and Development Division at (808) 270-7931. The renovated Lānaʻi Fifth Street Courts now offer opportunities for residents to participate in a variety of sports and recreational activities.
