A McMinn County Sheriff’s Office deputy was involved in a vehicle accident yesterday afternoon while transporting an arrestee to jail. The crash occurred on Ingleside Avenue in Athens, Tennessee, around 12:30 p.m., when another vehicle reportedly pulled out in front of the deputy’s car, Sheriff Joe Guy said. A statement obtained by WVLT-TV included a photo showing the patrol car with deployed airbags and the other vehicle overturned near a stop sign.
Sheriff Guy confirmed via social media that all individuals involved were taken to a local hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries. “Our prayers are with all involved,” he said, as reported by WATE.
