According to the Memphis Police Department's statement, the incident occurred at about 12:00 a.m. in the 600 block of South Mendenhall Road. The events unfolded after the victim, traveling in her vehicle, honked at a recklessly driving suspect, leading to shots being fired at her.
The sequence of events began to tragically escalate when the victim used her horn in an attempt to prevent a potential accident. The response from the suspect's side was to fire a shot at her vehicle. Surveillance video in the area captured an image of the suspect's vehicle—a blue pickup truck with dark-tinted windows—heading eastbound on Poplar Avenue.
In the wake of the shooting, the Memphis Police Department is reaching out to the public for assistance in identifying the perpetrator. The department has released information regarding the suspect's vehicle and the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
