A Mesa law firm was damaged Friday evening when a sedan, driven by a 13-year-old girl, crashed into its office. Her father, Joey Kristopher Jansen, 37, allegedly allowed her to drive before she lost control, FOX 10 Phoenix reported.
Jansen now faces charges including endangerment and criminal damage after the crash near Dobson and Baseline roads in Mesa. No injuries were reported, but the father was also booked for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to AZFamily.
After the crash, the law office began repairing the damage. 'It looked like an explosion. The car, it was a sedan, just kind of came right through,' partner Alison Briggs told FOX 10 Phoenix. Staff were fortunate no one was in the office at the time.
Crews working on repairs estimate cleanup costs at $25,000, with additional expenses for electrical damage. 'The front part of our lobby, we can't currently turn on the electricity,' Briggs told FOX 10 Phoenix. Authorities are still investigating how long the 13-year-old had been driving before the crash.
