A disturbing event unfolded in Miami Beach when Alix Junio Louis Innocent, 28, was accused of sexually assaulting a woman after attacking her boyfriend. According to Local 10 News, Innocent, who is reportedly homeless, engaged the couple from California as they left the Voodoo Lounge & Rooftop early Sunday morning.
The attack began when Innocent struck the woman's 46-year-old fiancé near the 900 block of Ocean Drive, rendering him unconscious, he was later treated at Mount Sinai Medical Center. The victim's plight continued as Innocent forced her to another location, where CCTV footage captured him threatening her life. According to the report, Innocent was found in possession of illegal narcotics at the time of his arrest and, had an active bench warrant for driving with a suspended license.
In a related account by WSVN, surveillance provided by Mitch Novick, owner of the Sherbrooke Hotel, captured the terrifying sequence with Innocent appearing to chase the woman as she fled. "It was a heinous crime, very disturbing,” Novick remarked in a statement concerning the events. The victim managed to escape after biting Innocent.
Further damning Innocent's case was his activity on social media. Miami Beach Police Officer Christopher Bess revealed that Innocent had purportedly bragged about the earlier altercation on his Instagram story. "Our subject bragged about this on his Instagram stories,” said Bess. This was further corroborated when police reviewed Innocent's Instagram, which contained posts referencing a robbery and initially denied any sexual contact with the victim. When apprehended, Innocent was wearing the same outfit as in the surveillance footage and was found with marijuana, and mushrooms in his backpack.
Innocent was subsequently arrested and is being held without bond, facing charges of armed sexual battery and kidnapping. Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Mindy S. Glazer, during a court appearance, confirmed, "There's probable cause for armed sexual battery. Count two, there's probable cause for kidnapping. Both counts, no bond."
